MSI have just unveiled their new CR41 notebook with an unorthodox royal bronze tone finish. The Taiwan-based manufacturer is billing this new portable PC as “Your multimedia companion”. It features a 14-inch display at a lowly 1366 x 768 resolution and packs the latest Intel Core series processors, Intel HM76 graphics, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, Bluetooth 4.0 and solid battery life that will provide 7.5 hours of runtime. Hard drive storage options start at 500GB and can be ramped up to 720GB. The total package weighs in at 2.4kg.
An array of useful hotkeys have also been included to handle such tasks as ejecting DVDs, turning the display off and activating S-Bar and Turbo Battery. S-Bar is similar to Dell Dock, which is basically a quick launch program located at the top of the screen, for access to frequently used apps.
Turbo Battery allows you to disable certain key features like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with just a single tap of the mouse. Among the other noteworthy features are SRS PC sound, a trackpad with a crystal diamond finish and a forward-tapering design, which MSI describes as being reminiscent of a sports car. PR and fancy marketing speak aside this looks to be a pretty run-of-the-mill looking mid-range laptop. It certainly will provide you with ample power for most tasks but at present MSI have not provided any word on pricing or availability, so it’s unfair to make any further judgement calls on this one until we know more.
