Product tie-ins between two companies tend to be a rather polarizing subject. Many see it for what it is, a cash grabbing exercise. While others enjoy the novelty aspect associated with not only the product’s uniqueness but also its association with the luxury market.

I’m reminded of the Lamborghini VX7 series notebooks from Asus. The Italian super car manufacturers badge seemingly justifying the rather inflated price point. Similarly LG’s Prada series smartphone is also a premium product concept. The third generation now offers a 4.3-inch NOVA display, which provides excellent outdoor visibility. Tucked away inside its 8.5mm-thin form factor resides a 1GHz dual-core OMAP 4430 processor and 8GB of internal storage.

The rear 8MP camera can be found just above the shiny Prada logo, which provides full 1080p video capture. Additionally NFC capabilities have also been included in the Prada 3.0’s lush feature set. On top of the Android Gingerbread 2.3.7 OS you will find the rather smart and stylish monochromatic Android UI layer. An Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is expected soon however. There is no word just yet on pricing information but we expect the LG Prada 3.0 (also known as the K2) to launch sometime in Quarter 1 2012.
