Described as being “ideal for sharing good times via gaming, e-books, movies, music, photography, social networking and more“, the Iconia Tab A200 is due to ship in January with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The 10.1-inch multitouch Tablet computer will offer a sleek and stylish design with Titanium gray and Metallic red color options and Nvidia’s Tegra 2 SoC processor. With a clock speed of 1GHz there should be ample horsepower under the hood for all your multimedia needs. The display offers a very high resolution of 1280 x 800 and you’ll find a front facing 2MP camera for video calling.
Other noteworthy specs and attributes of the A200 include a gyrometer, Acer’s proprietary Ring interface for their own unique take on multitasking and a host of media related apps. One such app in particular is ‘Screenshot’, which as the name suggests, allows you to take screen grabs of whatever you might be looking at. It doesn’t sound like a particularly revolutionary app but considering that the ability to take a screenshot on an Android device has been an unforgivably absent feature, it’s nice to see Acer addressing this issue. Furthermore they’ve also included Acer SocialJogger, which is their own social networking system, which consolidates Twitter, Facebook and more into one convenient location. The A200 also offers the usual I/O connectivity options with a full-sized USB port and a microSD slot for additional storage expansion. Pricing details have not yet been provided on this one just yet but we expect to hear more in the coming weeks.
