Samsung have expanded their 9 Series ultraportable notebook lineup to 5 models ranging in the familiar sizes of 11-inch and 13-inch. The sturdy and super thin duralumin design remains the same as this refresh represents an internals and pricing change only. The entry level 11-inch edition offers an Intel Core i3 processor with 64GB SSD storage and 2GB of RAM. This lightweight laptop will set you back a reduced price of $1,049 but for an extra $200 these specs can be enhanced with double the RAM and storage. The first 13-inch model provides more compelling hardware with a Core i5 CPU, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD storage as standard for $1,349, which represents a $300 decrease from the previous generation. A mid range model provides a 256GB SSD which pushes the price to $1,649.
At the forefront of the 13-inch lineup is the high-end Core i7 edition with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as standard. As you might expect an additional premium is paid for this luxury notebook with prices exceeding the $2,000 mark. Overall Samsung have moved to improve their competitiveness with their chief rival the MacBook Air by providing a greater range of configuration options to their slim form factor 9 Series notebooks.
