Adding fuel to rumors surrounding the MacBook Air’s imminent update is the news that BestBuy.com have halted online shipping of the popular Apple ultraportables in an attempt to prioritize inventory stock to their retail stores. Constrained supplies for both Apple stores and third party retailers such as Best Buy is usually a sign of an upcoming refresh of an Apple product.

The update to the Macbook Air’s will likely coincide with the official release of OS X Lion in July. So your shiny new Macbook Air will also feature a shiny new OS. An exact release date is not yet known but July 14th has been touted from various sources close to the subject. The new 2011 Air’s are expected to feature the latest Sandy Bridge CPUs from Intel along with the new ThunderBolt Hispeed I/O ports, which were first introduced on the MacBook Pros in February and later on the iMacs in May.
