I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while now. The 13.3-inch version has impressed many a tech analyst since it’s introduction at CES 2011 in January. Now the 11.6-inch edition of the Samsung Series 9 has begun shipping in the US. This new MacBook Air challenger fits the bill as a super slim ultraportable notebook with a luxurious duralumin enclosure. With it’s SuperBright 1366×768 display, HD video content comes to life. Theres plenty of horsepower under the hood too in the form of the latest Sandy Bridge Core i3 CPUs at 1.33GHz. Solid state storage comes as standard with 64GB available. RAM starts 2GB upgradable to 4GB. Windows 7 Home Premium comes preinstalled.
The Samsung Series 9 weighs in at less and 2.5 pounds and comes as standard with Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth, WIMAX 4G, 1.3 MP HD camera. The GPU is the now familiar Intel HD 3000 graphics processor. Theres also a HDMI output, both USB 2 and 3 ports along with a 4-cell battery. Theres no doubting that at $1,160 its a premium machine but it’s durable chassis, size, weight and solid specs offer a convenient and robust notebook that will provide excellent performance and a gorgeous design that will definitely turn the heads of a few fellow geeks.
