They may not be quite razor thin but they will compete against the MacBook Air and the Samsung 9 Series in the ultraportable notebook market. LG have introduced their latest portable laptop creations in the form of the P430 and P530 Blade series. The P430 features a 14-inch display and measures just 4.5mm thick. These notebooks truly are super slim. One noteworthy unique feature here is the practically non-existant bezel around the edge of the displays. This basically means that for the first time you have a notebook that boasts a larger display area thanks to this minimalistic bezel and yet it retains the same dimensions and form factor of a traditional 13.3-inch notebook with a normal sized bezel. Removing the bezel from a traditional 13.3-inch ultraportable and using that left over space to create edge-to-edge screen real estate is something I’ve waited to see for some time.

The chassis for both models feature stylish brushed aluminum enclosures. The P430 weighs in at just 1.94KG while the The P530 offers a 15.6-inch display and weights 2.2KG and is just 4.7mm thick. The specs for both machines are largely the same with the latest Sandy Bridge Core i7 CPUs from Intel and the GPU power comes courtesy of the Nvidia GeForce GT520M. Expect pricing and release date to be announced later this month.
