Next month Asus will be launching a new Intel Sandy Bridge powered notebook lineup targeted at the mid range consumer laptop market. The new machines very much fit the ultraportable bill coming in at less than 4 pounds and less than an inch thick. They all feature a 13.3-inch 1366 x 768 display. The U31E appears to be the entry level model with your option of either Core i3-2310M or the Core i5-2410M CPUs. It also features the stock Intel HD 3000 integrated GPU.
The U31SD ups the ante with the 1GB GeForce GT 520M card as it’s discrete GPU. The three machines will support up to 8GB of RAM and hard drive space can be scaled all the way up to 750GB. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1, a 5-in-1 card reader, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, HDMI output, Altec Lansing speakers and the option of either a 6 or 8 cell battery. The battery itself offers a solid 10 hours of runtime.
