Late last month we reported on the Toshiba Portege R835 notebooks going on pre-order now they’re older brother the R830 is on sale along with two new Tecra models. These new notebooks are designed with business users in mind offering greater performance, build quality, slimmer form factor and reduced weight. First up is the Tecra R840, which is a range of notebooks in the 14-inch category. The processor architecture is based on the latest Sandy Bridge series with Core i3s, i5s and i7s all available. The GPU is the AMD Radeon HD 6450M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, 4GB of RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, WI-FI- 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2 and 3 ports, Memory card reader, Webcam, six cell battery boasting 10 hours of runtime. Prices start from $899.
Next up in the Tecra line is the R850, which increases the display size to 15.6-inch. Again there are multiple CPU options to be found here along with a 10-key numeric keypad and weighing in at 5.3 pounds and less than an inch thick. The rest of the specifications and customization options are the same as the R840. Prices start from $879. Finally we move on to the 13.3 inch Portege R830 notebook, which is billed as “the world’s lightest 13.3-inch full performance ultraportable laptop featuring an integrated DVD drive.” Its just over the 3 pound mark in weight and less than an inch thick. The display resolution is 1366 x 768 LED backlit with Intel HD 3000 Graphics, with the Core i7-2620M, 500GB hard drive with 128GB of SSD optional, 4GB of RAM, multi-card reader, 1 USB 3 port, 1 USB 2 port, 3G support, WI-FI 80211n, Bluetooth 3.0, Gigabit ethernet, black matte tile keyboard, 9-cell battery and a boat load of Toshiba bundled software. Prices start from $1649.
